About the Martin Bayless Charitable Foundation
The Martin Bayless Charitable Foundation is the umbrella organization, formed in July, 1993, for all events and programs organized and implemented by Martin Bayless, professional athlete. The Martin Bayless Football Camps are held in five cities - San Diego, Phoenix, Kansas City, Buffalo, and Dayton. Martin started the Foundation to fulfill an obligation both to his community and himself. Also, underlying Martin's intention was a belief that if you invest time and energy in young people, they will be motivated to give of themselves to others, and their community. Martin's goal is to "make a difference" versus simply "making a contribution to" young peoples lives. His programs endeavor to reach out to youngsters in an effort to provide them with a stimulating, challenging and nurturing alternative to their everyday routine. Martin felt that too many of our young people do not see themselves as leaders because they don't look, dress or sound like the images of leaders regularly presented to them. Taking advantage of the fact that most kids readily connect with athletes, Martin wanted to do his part (and encourages others to follow) in helping to shape our leaders of tomorrow.
Martin firmly believes that breaking the cycle of indifference, intolerance and random acts of violence is within our reach. Therefore, he feels we all have a common stake in discovering new connections with today's youth.
